Wednesday night was Jacob's first Pinewood Derby Race. I think he was almost as excited/nervous as Gary. They had worked on the car for almost 2 months in preparation for this one night.
Now for those of you who do not have boys in Scouts, I have to say this is something that the men would REALLY enjoy! That is having their own race. I heard several of the dads behind us talking about what they had done to the cars and also their plans for next year after seeing the other boys(dads) cars. So Gary & Jacob designed the car based on what was on the box. Jacob's car is the blue number 3.
I wish I had taken more pictures but with the boys running from one end to the next and the actual race taking like 2 seconds it was over VERY quick.
Don't ask me whats going on with the camera, I guess I didn't stop recording. lol He placed 3rd in this race, and was a very good sport for not winning any of the others. That I was VERY grateful for, we talked about that a lot before we went over. The very next race after the one I videoed, the cars hit each other and of course one was Jacob's and one of his wheels came off. But we all had a good time and look forward to next year. On the way home Jacob asked Gary if they could build their own track. All in all I think it was a success! Mason had a blast too, he wanted to be up front right beside his "Jacob". Helping him get his car and everything. I was really happy to see Mason so excited for Jacob and cheering him on by his side.
And just for good measure here is one in his updated shirt. Who in the world thought sewing these things on was a good idea I'd like to have a chat with them!

That looks like so much fun. I agree with you on the sewing part. When Dave was called in the Scouts a few years ago I had to sew all that stuff and it drove me nuts!
Cute, cute, cute. It sounds like your boys had a blast. Mark's troop did the pinewood derby this week too. I can't wait until I get to do things like this too.
Aww he is so cute! I can't wait for Cohen to be in scouts. Well scratch that I don't want him to grow up so fast. lol
